On Saturday 13th July 2025, we had the pleasure of attending the Newport Show. This was our first event as a new practice and what a day it turned out to be.
From early morning set-up to welcoming visitors all day long, the experience was full of energy, great conversations and valued community moments. And to top it off, we were incredibly honoured to be awarded Best Small Stand at the show a moment we weren’t expecting and we won’t forget.
Why the Show Mattered to Us
As a newly opened, independent veterinary centre right here in Newport, we knew how important it was to show our support for the local community and to give people the chance to meet the team behind Nova Vets. We had a simple aim for the day, to introduce ourselves, share what we do and connect with pet owners from across the area.
We wanted our stand to offer more than just information. We wanted it to be a space where people could pause, have a cold drink, chat and feel part of what Nova stands for. With that in mind, we created a few key areas to make everyone feel welcome.
Our children’s corner was a popular spot throughout the day. We provided colouring sheets, animal-themed activities and space for little ones to sit while their parents chatted to the team. It was lovely to see families engaging together and children learning more about pets and how we care for them.
We know that events like the Newport Show can be a long day out for dogs too especially considering the hot weather on the day. So we made sure to include a dog-friendly area with water bowls and shaded spots for a rest. A few canine visitors made themselves right at home and we were more than happy to give them a fuss.
Each part of the stand reflected our aim: to provide thoughtful, inclusive care whether in the clinic or out in the community.
A Proud Recognition
Winning Best Small Stand was completely unexpected but deeply appreciated. It reflected the care and effort our whole team put into representing Nova and connecting meaningfully with the public. To be recognised in such a well-established local event, surrounded by so many incredible businesses and organisations, was a real highlight for us.

What’s Next?
This was our first show, but it certainly won’t be our last. We’re excited to continue building relationships across the community, attending events, and finding new ways to share helpful information with pet owners across Newport and beyond.
