We had the honour of being asked to judge this year’s Gnosall Dog Show! It was part of a charity event called ‘Ted Fest’ where Gnosall community (and beyond) came together to support a little boy called Edward who is bravely battling Leukaemia at the age of 6. This event was to help support Ted and his family with their long journey ahead.

The day had everything… bouncy castles, stalls, cakes, live music, DJ, pizza, raffles and auctions, and of course the dog show! Community spirit was present in abundance.

Vet Sam and nurse Lucy headed on down to Gnosall Sports and Social Club on Saturday 20th September to judge the show. It consisted of 13 classes, including waggiest tail, most fabulous senior, cutest puppy, ball and spoon and dog most like owner!

Despite the weather being quite poor in parts, the rain made quite the appearance, lots of people and their lovely dogs turned out to take part. Some classes had over double figure entries making it extremely difficult for us to decide the winners. Each class had rosettes 1-6 plus a little trophy for the winner. It was a well-organised show in a lovely environment.

We had an array of dogs from Corgis to Dachshunds and Labradors to gorgeous cross breeds. Lots of different little personalities who were all extremely well behaved on the day. After lots of deliberation, Best in Show went to Rosie, a beautiful Border Collie. A very well-deserved win for such a clever, beautiful girl who kept her composure and patience all afternoon long, after entering almost every class. She went from racing in the ball and spoon to a dalmatian in the fancy dress to showing us the best trick of the day! Congratulations, Rosie!

All entries to the dog show were donated to Ted’s Fund, which will be donated to Stoke Hospital Ward 217b Oncology to provide more toys, books, games, a treat box and to help make the ward more welcoming and comforting for poorly children like Ted. The grand total raised from the day was £5,725!

Thank you to everyone who came along and made the day so successful. Community and dogs… the perfect combination!
