On Monday 21st July 2025, we opened the doors to Nova Veterinary Centre for the very first time and what a week it was. After months of planning, preparation, building, decorating (and yes, more than a few spreadsheets), we were finally ready to welcome our first patients.
From the moment we switched on the lights that morning, we were met with everything we’d hoped for: support, excitement, busy appointment books and the occasional technical hiccup.
Appointments from Day One
We started with appointments from the minute we opened. Clients who has pre-registered were keen to bring their pets in and we felt incredibly grateful for the trust and enthusiasm shown right from the beginning. From routine vaccinations to first check-ups for new puppies and kittens, it was a real pleasure to start doing what we love offering tailored, compassionate care for the animals in our community.
The Highs
One of the biggest highs of the week was simply seeing Nova come to life. Hearing pets’ names called through our new consulting rooms, welcoming familiar and new faces and seeing the waiting room filled with people chatting and relaxed was a powerful reminder of why we started this journey.
The positive feedback from clients meant the world to us. We had conversations with owners who had been looking for a more personal approach to veterinary care and many told us they felt reassured and at home from the moment they arrived.
Our team worked together seamlessly, and despite being new in the space and dealing with some minor technical hiccups. We were very proud to see everyone take everything in their stride and smile at every client coming through the door.
The (Inevitable) Challenges
No first week would be complete without a few teething issues and we certainly had ours. The car machine, for example, decided to be selective about when it wanted to cooperate. And our label printer that is vital for preparing medication seemed to have a mind of its own, particularly when we needed it most. Let’s just say, we got to know our IT troubleshooting settings very well. But with every challenge came a solution and a stronger team. Along with very kind and understanding clients, we couldn’t ask for more.
Reflecting on the Week
As we look back on our first week, the overwhelming feeling is one of pride and gratitude. We’ve waited a long time for this and seeing it all take shape, day by day, has been both humbling and energising.
We’re incredibly thankful to every client who registered, booked, visited, shared kind words, or simply supported us from afar.
